Scientific review process

The Scientific Committee will review all abstracts submitted to our 21st Congress according to a set of standardised criteria regarding the appropriateness to the Congress theme, overall scientific impact of the study, clarity of objectives and methodology, originality of content and interpretability of the public summary.

Abstracts will be reviewed and scored by three members of the Scientific Committee. Committee members who encounter any conflict of interest during the review process will be asked to recuse themselves from reviewing those abstracts, being replaced by another Committee member.  The Committee will use these scores as the basis for allocation of abstracts to awarding categories (symposia, oral presentations,  posters). The highest scoring abstracts submitted by an Early Career Researcher (ECR) will be offered the ECR Keynote Prize.

The decisions of the Scientific Committee will be final. We reserve the right to reject abstracts which lack sufficient scientific quality, raise ethnical concerns or may otherwise be offensive or inappropriate to our delegates.

Announcing the outcome of the review process

We will communicate the outcomes of our review process to submitting delegates by 15th June 2024.
